I need to print postcards in vfp 9.0 that are 4 up and have customer data on both sides. I do have a duplex printer. I need help on how to make this work ?
Thanks

I was at the Southwest Fox conference last year where Cathy Pountney gave a session on doing this sort of thing and loads of other reporting/printing gems.

Her website is here. You could try contacting her.

Hope that helps,

Stewart

I never did that, but possible solution may be:
1. Create 4 tables with data for each postcard.
2. report1: Set one table as a master and other 3 as relation to the master.
3. Now you can print 4 card on a same page and the data is coming from 4 different tables.

4. report2: Do the same for the Back of the Card. But now you have to print the 4th card first, then 3rd and 2nd and so on.

I do not think it is a good idea to use the duplex option of your printer, because it is very slow and programming will be more difficult. Create report1 for the front and report 2 for the back.

Good luck.

I don't think you need to create four tables. It would be enough to add a control field to your existing table or cursor. The control field would contain a simple consecutive number.

You would then set the page height to equal that of the physical card (i.e twice the height of the individual card, plus an allowance for any non-printable area). Group the report on the control group, so that it prints two groups per page. That will give you your two vertical cards.

To get the two horizontal cards, simply format the report with two columns.

You don't need to do anything special to print the other side of the cards. Given you have duplex printer, just print the second "page" (that is, the reverse of the card) immediately after the first.

Hope this makes sense.

Hi Mike:

How are you ?

I assume there are 4 card per page(4 up) that is approximately 2x10. And data is unique for the front and the back of each card.

Honestly, I do not understand your solution.
