Hi, I just switched to InDesign CS wPagemaker plug-in and bought myself a brand new Samsung Color Laser printer CLP 510W with duplex printing function. Yet, I have not been successful in getting a 4-legal half page doc created in InDesign to print out right. Here is what I did:

1 Doc setup: # of pages: 4
Page size: Legal half
width 51 p0 and hight 42p0
Orientation: Landscape
2 Print setup: Orientation: Portait
(I noticed in the preview, p1 & p2 were shown, instead of p1 & p4)
Layout: Multiple pages per side
pages per side: 2 up
page order: Left
Duplex: Long edge
The result: p1 & p2 printed on one side, p3 missing and p4 was printed on a separate page. no doubleside printed at all.

Then I went into InBooklet SE; chose 2-up saddle stich. In the print preview it looked all right, but the print result was that 4 pages were squeezed onto one legal size paper with only half of the content of each page shown.

My questions: 1 Do I have to changed the document into a booklet in order to use InBooklet SE? I can't find Pagemaker plug-in while in use of InDesign CS.

2. Is there a print preview in ID?
3. How can I get the pages set up in the right order to print doublesided?

Many thanks in advance.

I can't find Pagemaker plug-in while in use of InDesign CS.
The PM Plug-in provides:
1. PageMaker toolbar
2. Position tool
3. Build booklet
4. Data merge
5. Bullets and numbering
6. Professionally designed templates
7. Template browser

So you're actually using the Plug-in when you use the Build Booklet Utility.

Duplex: Long edge
There's some confusion here. If your reader spreads are landscape, the binding will be the left edge, i.e. the short edge.

What you may have to do is create portrait reader spreads and then rotate all the objects on the page through 90°.

Thanks, John:

I figured out how to print the 4 page legal-half doublesided in InBooklet SE. But each page was shrank down to 1/3 of the orignal size. As you can see it's 11:22pm, I am still struggling. What is confusing me is that in PM 6.5, after a document was created, one had to to Utility to build a booklet. In InBooklet, there isn't such function. At this point I am not sure whether I did something wrong in ID or there is something wrong with the printer. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. I am a desparate because the project deadline is next Fri.

Strictly speaking this is an InDesign question.
