I successfully installed SP6a on an NT 4.0 workstation.
The backup file option was selected for the update.
Question
Where are the backup files and can I delete them to save
space on my drive?
i.e.,) Are the files in --> C:\WINNT\$NtServicePackUninstall$
or are the files in
c:\Backup
As always, thanks for your replies.

They usually are in the $NTServicePackUninstall$. If you have run SP6a for a while without any problems, go ahead and delete the file if you want. Try to get a good backup of it first, though.

If you delete the $NTServicePackUninstall$ folder you won't be able to uninstall the service pack and return to your previous version. This isn't usually a problem if your system has been stable for a while. The only occasion I've had to go back was when one particular application we ran had problems with a service pack upgrade, but I guess you know by now if that's the case with your setup.
