the trunk group is down but the siganlling is up and audix is good. can adminster mboxes but the trunk group doesnt come in service. i have done several of these with 8300's but never on procesor ethernet on the 8400. anything differnet???? noticed i had to set the processor ethernet to the control network just to make the audix start.

Do you have a TN2302AP Medpro administered? The S8400 requires a MEDPRO to get the IA770 working. It works in the S8300/G700 or G350 because they are both IP enabled to sart with. It's in the documentation, that the MEDPRO is required for the IA770 to be fucntional.

awesome, thanks. i had the card just sitting in there and i forgot to add the interface. i though i was going crazy. heres another question though. if i have nothing to plug it in to will that casue any problems. customer doesnt want to put the PBX on the network.

Yes, the interface MUST be up. You can plug it into the CLAN or S8400 LAN interface with a Reversing cable. I would HIGHLY recomend you put it on the network though. You have an IP enabled switch, could use IP phones/IP Softphones, and, for Administration with ASA from the customers PC(s). Also, to do firmware upgrades, you would need the CLAN and the S8400 LAN interface connected, so you can FTP firmware to the CLAN. If they won't let you put it on their network (very dumb), then at least get a small 4 port ethernet switch, for CLAN, MEDPRO, and S8300 LAN interface, then it will be at least somewhat functional for you to be able to do firmware upgrades, etc (you could also put you PC on the 4th port for FTPing, admin, etc). You also might want to let them know they paid good money for that MEDPRO, and to get some use out of it, they should consider possible future IP Softphones and IP Phones.
