Hi all,

I'm configuring a 3rd party endpoint softphone using Bria. So far all features working except conferencing - I find it cannot get the 1st party join the conference from the music on-hold, once the 2nd party is connected. I can talk to the 2nd party from the softphone no problem, and I can transfer the 2nd party to the 1st party and they can talk to each other no problem. And the 1st party can only hear music on-hold so it's like a 2.5 way call. Call transfer works flawlessly. Anybody got any idea where to troubleshoot?

Thanks,
Jacky

You better transfer them to a conference meet me with a shortcode and then join them.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

But simple conference should work too on softphone, no?

I don't know if this is an option in Bria.
The problem with sip phones is that everybody (builders of sip phones) is doing there own thing.
You better ask counterpath (builder of Bria) if it supports conferencing.

you will need to ensure call waiting is enabled on the softphone user. however, if transfers are working, then i suspect it already is.

It behaves like an analog phone
dial first party, flash (or conf)
dial second party, flash (or conf)
dial *47

of course that is in theory as I never tried it :)

So nobody suspect it's ip office then? I find it interesting the 1st party was put on music on-hold until bria hangs up all - sounds like ip office does not know it needs to put it back to the soft phone extension(which already merged the two calls, but doesn't know the 1st call still stays with MOH). Conference is supported by bria just like transfer I confirmed.

Thanks

it is also supported by 3CX but still won't work with IPO. SIP is a standard but still has room for variations and those are killing the BYOD sometimes.
Try the *47 and see if that solves your problem

SIP is a protocol not a standard, that's the problem, people are free to do things any way they like, so any features on a third party product are hit and miss regardless of system being used :)

Take into account that Nortel did conferencing one way, IPO does it another, Panasonic different again etc etc and at no point on the softphones can you specify how your system works in that respect so I don't know how you would think it works on everything it can be connected to :)

tried *47 and it doesn't work - the 1st call is still shown in system status as Held, until I hang up from Bria then both calls gone...

you have to get another dialtone before *47 works so basically trying to conf a third party into it. Not having the second person on there and then *47 into their ear. Just in case you tried it that way. If not then oops no workie.

Andy you are right SIP is a protocol not a standard, that is what you get from too much gin and tonic at night. [rednose]

OK here are what I've tried:

call 1st party, then use "add call" from Bria, and dial 2nd party, and hit "merge call" - 1st call on hold forever in IPO(with MOH), until I hang up from Bria.
call 1st party, then dial *47 from Bria, and dial 2nd party, and hit "merge call" - 1st call still on hold somehow, with no MOH, until I hang up.

it seems as soon as I hold the 1st call, it stays with IPO and doesn't get brought back to the calls with softphone.

Any other idea?

If it truly operates like a single line extension, try placing the 1st call, then pressing "add call". Call the 2nd party, press "add call" again, which should bring you a fresh dial tone, and then dialing the *47
