Hello all

We're getting multiple 3e24 FSCs on Seagate LTO1 drives in L700 library using Netbackup sw.
Is this common issue? Did anyone had similar problem ? Is there any Netbackup tuning
to solve rewind issues ?

Any comments are welcome. Thanx

regards

Robbie

Hi Robbie74

We're having so many errors regarding to "3e24 FSC", so many Drive marked Down by Netbackup SW due to this errors.
We have two StorageTek Library, L700 with SDLT220 & L180 with SDLT320, Both with Firmware V80.

STK support says that the problem was in the old cartridges, but we thing that have to be something else because the cartridges in L180 are quite new.

Any way, Do you still have the errors? What have you made to avoid it?

Many thanks in advanced and best regards.

I dont know if this is related...but

I heard also that some software does not wait for the rewind on larger capacity tapes...thus it marks the drive/media as stuck and then marks it as offline. supposedly there is a .ini config (netbackup) you can do to increase the rewind wait time.

Just a thought.

Really?

Speaking with Veritas Support they said that it isn't possible to change the rewind waitting time, they said that this is not a configurable parameter...

Do you know how could I increase this time??? (My netbackup runs in a Solaris 8 system).

Regards

Hi there, I've saw lots of cases where this problem was resolved updating the firmware level for both the library end the drive to the most current version. There are no problem regarding this kind of errors addressed in the new versions, but that's just a personal experience.

Update the firmware on the SDLT drive to V83. This solves the rewind issue.
