3DS VIZ R2->R3 project conversion/ material lib. conversion

Is there any way to convert VIZ R2 Material library's and projects to R3 files ?
It currently says something like "obsololete information" when I try to open a R2 mat.lib. in R3 :'(

Hope someone can help me out. I seriously don't get why it isn't easyer, doesn't exactly motivate buying a new version.
