3D Studio Max R3 fails to load after splash screen

After starting 3D Studio Max R3 in Win ME, the splash screen comes up, the plugins load, but then it completely disappears. The program is still running in the end task menu but there is no way to bring it up. I attempted updating my video drivers, but this didnt solve the problem. If I run the program when I first start my computer, it will work properly. If I try to run it after I've been doing other stuff it wont work. I am running a P3-600, with 256 mb of ram. Any suggestions?

well I've had the same problem before possible....When I first got MAX on my machine i was running a P3500 with 56MB of ram.....and the only time that i could run it was after i restarted the computer(refreshed the resourses n stuff)and i couldn't have more then 1 other program open at the same time because of lack of ram ect.

But after i upgraded the ram to 256MB and a couple other stuff it runs just fine...

but the only thing i can say if you don't want to upgrade and stuff

is to make sure nothing else is running when ur using max make sure the bare min of things start up on boot up ect I Em Not A God

This happened to me as well. Upon running 3d Studio, I accidentally hit the Handle (The bar along the top with the "_"[]" & "x" on it) and it closed the program!

When I tried to re-open 3d Studio it only showed the splashscreen (and it was in the taskbar)

Like the post above, I found that restarting was the only way to get it back to normal. I'm using Win98.
