3com wireless NIC problem

We've set up a wireless network (all Symbol equipment) for barcoding in the warehouses that connects to our regular LAN. In one of the warehouses, I'm trying to set up a PC with a 3com wireless RF card to connect to the closest access point. After installating the card, it shows no connection, it just says "scanning" with no result, and I can't log on to the network. I've put in the ESS for the wireless network; occasionally the closest access point shows up in the connections list, with the proper MAC address for the nearest access point, but I still am not connected to the network, can't ping anything, etc. I know I have a full RF signal because there's a strong signal on the PDA next to the PC.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks
