Hello, Newbie here.. I have been going crazy trying to find out how to do a factory reset on a 3COM 3CRWE747 96B Wireless Access Point. I called 3COM and they wanted $750 bucks for a documented but not publicly available solution.. This is crazy! I found instruction for AP 2000 but there is no physical reset button I can see on my model.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks..

Thanks.. But already went through all the manuals.. It is undocumented. Any other suggestions?

is there not one of those reset buttons on it that you have to use a pin to press it?

i'll look some more. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

did you end up solving the issue of factory reset?

cheers,

Ben

Same remarks as Benrod:
Where you able to fix this password probleme.
It must be so simple but why haven't them documented this procedure!!

Thanks for the info

You need to short a couple pins on the DIN. I think it is 1 and 3, but if you contact 3COM they will tell you exactly which ones..

I could contact 3Com but they charge a fortune for a procedure that should have been written publicly somewhere.
I tried to short a few pin on the DB9 serial connector while the power was remove and it didn't work.
The DIN you are talking about is it the Cat5 connector or the Serial connector. And do we have to apply the short for a long period of time?

Thans for the info, I appreciate....

Yes.. the serial cable.. I think it was for 5 sec's. If you argue with them long and hard they will break down. Thats how I got the info..

I tried 3 differents ways to get that information for 3Com but those idiots still don't want to answed (though in there new antenna they added a reset button do).

I tried to short every pin on the serial DIN in anyway (while booting the antenna, while the antenna is off etc) and it's still not working .

If you Vman323 remember more details I would apreciate or anyone.

Thanks for the advice.

Yannick

Fix In order to reset the Access Point to factory defaults, follow the steps
below:

1. Power down the Access Point
2. Short out pins 2 and 3 on the serial connector ( Note you can use a paper

3. Reboot the Access Point, leaving the short in place during the boot
sequence

5. Remove the short
6. Reboot the Access Point
