we are trying to bid some 3com switches to a customer but they have a quote from CDW for some of the cisco catalyst 500's for about $450. Thats really cheap in my opinion (which makes me feel like its a linksys with a cisco sticker on it) has anyone ever compared the 2 switches heres the specs for the catalyst 500 below: Is there a 3com equivalent close to that price?

SPECIFICATIONS:
Layer 2 managed switch; 24 x 10/100BaseTX IEEE 802.3af PoE ports; supports Cisco Inline Power (pre-standard); 15.4W per port, max power 370W; 2 x dual-personality ports supporting 1000BaseT or 1000BaseSX/LX mini-GBICs; 8.8sec backplane capacity; 8K MAC address forwarding table; supports 32 x 802.1q VLANs, 802.1p, 802.1w, 802.1x, RADIUS, SSL/HTTPS, SSH; web-based and Cisco Network Assistant management

If they are using a Cisco VOIP system that requires POE, it will be hard to find a 3COM that can compare. Just from personal experience i always list Cisco if i want to keep 3com out of the bids due to 3com not being an equal. Just read the bid specs very close for details of the switches because you will probablly have to exceed the Cisco specs if you are using a 3com.
