Hi All,

How do I reconfigure port speed and duplex? I can get access to the switch, see what the current settings are, but can't appear to change them?

Rgds,

It depends upon which switch and what level of code is being run. Although the CLI and Web interfaces on 3Com switches are fairly consistent accross the Superstack range, there have been changes there.

The Corebuilder range was far less consistent the Switch 4007 falls into the latter category being the same as the Corebuilder 9000's and 5000s.

So tell us which switch and we will tell you how.

This is one of the earlier switches with a very graphical interface and is unlike anything else other than the switch 1000.

connect via telnet or null modem cable using 9600/8,1,n

Login to the switch as user level security or admin with either the default passwords (security and no password respectively) or the previously set passwords.

refer to the user guide at
You should get a menu up on screen that has the top level option of switch management press return

this brings you a sreen where you can manage the settings for the whole switch, a vlan or a port. Use the space bar to select port the screen should change. Select the correct port number and select setup

the next screen has all the port settings. btw the unit default is the default behaviour of the switch ports as set in the unit level management mode. RTFM and all should be well.

Good luck and have fun.
