Hi

I have been getting a few weird network problems and have decided its time to map out the network - however I am still very green with switches and wondered if any one can tell me how I can find out how the two SSII switches on our network are setup.

Thanks

Here's the easiest way...

If each of the switches has an IP Address, bring up any browser and type in the IP Address. That should bring up the management page for the Switch.

If it asks you for a password, try...

username - security
password - security

If this Username and Password do not work, that means that the default user and password info has been changed. You will need to get help from 3Com.

Otherwise you can also go in through the Console Port on the back of the switch. You will need a Null modem serial cable and the correct connectors. If necessary, go to the 3Com website and get the pin-outs for the cable.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the info,

My apologies for such a lazy question, I have since looked into this a bit more and realize that I have to communicate with the switch to get the answers that I need!

The switch's do not appear to have IP assigned so I will have to connect through the cnsole port.

Graham
