Hi I have just received a Cisco 1600 series router from my ISP to connect to my network.

I have been told that if I want to connect the router directly to a hub or switch I should use either a uplink port or crossover cable.

The ports on the switch are apparently MDIX (Crossover) - does this mean that I will have to use a crossover cable or do any of the ports act as uplink ports (I believe the switch has a standard configuration) is there any way I can use standard CAT5 ?

I wanted to test this today, so any comments would be welcome,

Thanks

You can connect a plain patch cord between the MDIX port and the Cisco router.
