3Com OfficeConnect router issues

I had a 3Com OfficeConnect model 3CR858-91 Cable/DSL router that worked fine for me for over a year. I gave it to a neighbor early in 2008 when their router shot cR@p$. Worked OK for them until mid-year, then started dropping connectivity until it was powered-off/on. Now it requires resetting several times a day.

I have reset the router back to factory specs without curing the problem. What can I do to get this router back to a reliable state?

Doesn't speak very highly for 3Com quality, eh?
