When upgrading from ISA nic to a PCI 3c905b-tx
Unable to make the card work with Novell 3.12 server.
The old card works, but it is 10mbps.
already ran patch 312PTD.exe
am loading nbi31x, msm31x, etherstsm, 3c90xc.lan
then bind ipx to 3c90xc net=1
It loads all but 3c90xc.lan
Thanks for any help One Code to rule them all, One code to bind them.

I've never had much luck with the 3c90xc driver, look for the 3c90x.lan driver (it is still up on 3Com's web site).

Loading newer hardware for older OS's can be a pain in the ars, but it can be done if you smack the server around a bit. I have been able to get the 3C905B-TX to load, but it wasn't very easy. The first step is why does the system not want to load? I am assuming that it is an undefined public variable correct? You need to find out what module uses that public variable. If you downloaded the driver from 3Com, then use all files from the drivers disk (MSM, ETHERTSM and such). Do not use the Novell files, not even the patch. Manually unload all network drivers and then load them one by one from diskette you make from the 3Com driver disk. You should eventually be able to load the LAN driver once you get the proper public variable, and that undefined public variable should be the files provided by 3Com.

If that fails, try to find a copy or buy a copy of the 3.2 Enhancment Pack. If it works, get the 3.2 Enhancment Pack anyway. Brent Schmidt CNE, Network +

Why do user go into a panic when a NetWare server goes down, but accept it as normal when a Windows server goes down?

The 3c90x.lan driver worked...!!

Thanks much, your answer came as I found it in the 3com knowledgebase (buried 12 foot under, took hours).

the 3c90xc.lan driver wont work with the 3c905-TX card. Go figure. One Code to rule them all, One code to bind them.
