Ok, here is the scenario, don't know much about switches.
Recently acquired a 2nd hand 3com linkswitch 2200, apparently its the old, has 16 10BaseT connectors, a serial port, couple of FDDI, and a pcmcia slot at the back.
Anyhow here is my problem, up till recently I was just using it as a hub, worked fine and what not, except it used to have all red lights after every couple of days of so..
then one day it just would keep on freezing, i suppose..every half an hour. I couldn't figure out why..
anyhow I figured maybe its dusty and opened cleaned it and everything was cool..except there was no change in the freeze ups..anyhow since there was a battery inside I pulled it, and checked it, its dead, now I can replace the battery no probs..but the problem is since I pulled the batttery out, diag light keeps on blinking and nothing else works, so after some search, I concluded that battery probably still had some juice left and my pulling it out, erased teh EPROM. now the only question is how do I go about flashing the memory. Apparently I found the rom, I think from 3com's site. But all documentation is fruitless..cause the all just give the procedure..
I mean how am I supposed to log on into the switch.
or which address to telnet to,
is there any way I can salvage this, or is it just a paperwieght now..
