I am trying to configure a 3Com access point 6000. There isn't a serial connection (which others have). and when i go to the 3com device manager to configure, there is nothing there. i refresh to detect connected ap's and still nothing.

i've read all the help files and know that the default ip is 168.254.xxx.1- the xxx is the last digit of the ap's mac address. how do i find that out? the ap is getting power, and both wireless and ethernet link lights are blinking...
i just cannot think how to access the configuration page...

any ideas? thanks

Honestly I am not sure how old this is but I can help you out or others when this happend.

If the normal 3Com WIDMAN software is not doing the trick for you then break out the 3Com Network Supervisor or Network Director. Both can be downloaded from 3coms site. Just set it up for a default scan and you will end up with an entire map of your network.

Honestly though, if you cannot get the WIDMAN software to work and you have the AP connected to that computer and not the network then something is wrong.
