Hi,

I have a mainly 3 Com network with a 3Com 4900 fibre switch at the core, connected to this I have a number of 4400 edge switches, and a couple of 3Com 3300 switches.

I have recently added a number of Cisco 3560 POE switches to the network, these are connected by x-over cable to the 4400 edge switches, with the Cisco port configured as a trunk.

I am using 3Com Network director to monitor the network, and since the installation of the cisco switches (though this may be pure coincidence), I seem to be getting a lot of reports of a high IP ping response time, this can be reported on a single switch or on multiple switches in different parts of the building at the same time, however it never seems to be reported on the core switch which connects them all.

The number of reports seems to drop dramatically at weekends, when the network is less busy, but still being used.

In addition to this a number of the 3com edge switches are now restarting, but this seems to only occur in the morning.

Also some of the 3Com switches are totally unaffected.

I've checked the software versions and all are running v6.00s, the switches have different hardware versions, but both new and old are restarting

Any help on how to resolve this issue would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
