This is the first time I've ever had to setup a *real* router. I've used some Linksys routers before but they all had a GUI and made things pretty easy. Now I have this 5232 and have no real clue how to set it up.

I've been playing with it for a couple of days now and have figured a few things out. I set the system name, date/time, set an ip (i think) and turned on SNMP so I could access it with the 3COM device manager (which seems to be fairly useless for congifuring the router). I also figured how to use tftp.

I want to use this router as a Gateway with some VPN connections. Later on I will be looking at VLAN as well. Problem is I really don't know how to set it up. For instance. In my old Linksys router it had a place to put the gateway, this one doesn't seem to have that. So how does it know which "External IP" is used to get out into the ethernet?

Thanks any pointers would be appreciated.

Ooops. Typo. The above should have been How would it know to get out to the *internet*.

Also, NAT. How is this setup manually?
