Hello all,

I have 2ea x 3Com4400 switches, stacked using Cascade Kit, with fiber uplink.

I am trying to implement VLANs.

My questions are :

1) Can cascade ports be trunk ports?
2) Can fiber uplink port be trunk ports?
3) This 3Com 4400 is at version 2.02. VLANs are not available on this version. Research tells me that I need to upgrade the firmware. Can someone confirm this? Or do you recommend replacing switches?

Thanks for your valuable time.

Type Switch 4400
Software Version 2.02
Hardware Version 03.02.00
IP Address 192.168.0.8
MAC Address
Boot Version 2.02
Product Number 3C17204

Yes you need to upgrade to at least version 4.00 to get VLAN's, but just try to get the latest. The cascade module makes your switch act as one big switch and so yes VLAN's work.
