My router will no longer boot. I formatted the flash memory, but am unable to reload a copy of the boot.68k file. I downloaded the 9.1 version of the boot.68k file, and installed the bootp and tftp servers from 3com.

My problem is, I cannot make it work. Can anyone give me step by step instructions to configure the bootp and tftp servers, then instruct the router to load the file. It only gives me access to the monitor programming. When I try to FL boot.68K, it gives an ARP No server hardware address error.

At my wits end, I would appreciate any assistance given.

hi
if you have not done this by now try this.

What you are doing is ok but make sure you are directly connected to the router from the pc and not connected through a switch.

Dragon 13,

Thank-you for responding to my plea for help. Your advice is right on!

I did resolve the situation by creating a one pc network with the tftp server loaded and the router connected to a hub. It appears that my full network was prohibiting the tftp server from receiving the request from the router.

Again, I appreciate your responding and apologize for not updating my post to indicate that I had corrected the problem.
