3C996 Gig NIC and 3300 Switch

Hey all, have a bit of a dilemna, have installed a gig NIC (3C996) into our file server (Windows2000), have all the latest drivers card works fine plugged into a 100mb port. It even seems to work plugged into the gig module in the back of the 3300, all lights are reporting good connection (ie green light for 1000 mbps on card and green light on the back of the switch) Win98 workstations log in great, but I can't get a win2000 workstation to login.......... Help please, if anyone has had same trouble I would be grateful for a solution.....
