Background: We have had this SuperStack II Netbuilder router for many years and it had been retired for some time, but we recently needed a 100/MBit router to simply route packets from one subnet to another on local lan with nothing else required, except for the 100 Mbit capability.
Feb. 23 started the router, set up our TFTP server, downloaded the *appropriate* (the jury is still out on that one) boot.68k file from the 3Com archives and flashed the thing. All appeared OK, the thing came up OK.
The issue: The thing will not route data. !1 is 192.168.1.251 and !2 is 10.10.10.2 The next hop router on <- this end is 10.10.10.1 and can be pinged from the Netbuilder. A default route 0.0.0.0 with a gateway of 10.10.10.1 is visible. From the NB (via telnet connection) I can ping the internet, anything on the 192. Network and anything on the 10. network. The problem is: from any workstation on the 192. network (yes the WS has the correct gateway 192.168.1.251 defined) I can ping both interfaces on the Netbuilder but nothing beyond. (timeout) And I did issue the control=route command. Nothing is visible beyond 10.10.10.2 If anyone has any experience with these devices, it would be appreciated. All I want to know is does this sound like a configuration issue or should the thing hit the dumpster. P.S. As expected, 3Com was of absolutely no help since the thing is discontinued.
