3C16988A & 3C16980 Password

I would like to reset a 3C16988A and 3C16980 3Com switch passwords in our network. The guy before me left without leaving any of the passwords. I was able to reset a 4200 with Telnet and “recover” mode. Can I do the same with the above models?

Try this case sensitive login and password and answer:

login: 3comcso (those are o's and not zeros)
password: RIP000 (those are 3 zeros)

Reset? y (lower case)

You must power cycle the switch after this. If all goes
well, you should be able to login using "admin" as the
username, and a blank password.

You can also try:
Login: security
Password: security

If this does not work, sometimes loading an old version
of code trying the above steps will work.
