Well i dont unserstand. IF this is the same diagram as tha actual avaya unit what is the difference. is there anything special in the avaya unit that protects it?
In the adapter there are some resistors that protect your com port. You may never have a problem. But,I have had my 355AF shxt the bed, and had to throw it out. Its a gamble of the price of your laptop.
I have been using a pin out version for a long time. It is different than the one you listed. If you accidently plug the RJ-45 cable into a station port instead of the admin port, you will blow your com port on your laptop, and not even having a standard 355 adapter will matter. If you are interested in the pin out, I will post it.
Just to confuse the issue... I've connected using a 2 pair cable (conductors 3-4-5-6) and not had any problems, and so far as the adapter goes, I've seen an MLX port wipe out the com port using the adapter, not a good thing.
