As I open the package of the 355A I just bought, it occurs to me what the "F" stands for. What is the easiest way to hook a 355A to an AT modem cable?

I am upgrading from a VS1 to an R7 messaging module and want to connect to it.

Have a great holiday!

You only use the rs232 port to change the IP address. All the programming is done thru the line port. The default is
10.0.0.42

Sorry that should read LAN port.

Use a gender changer to convert from the 355A to a 355 AF, then a DB25 to DB9 converter. It's a little clumsy, but it'll work fine. But you still have to hook up to it via ethernet to grab system data.

If you don't plan on changing the IP address then let it be and use the LAN port, it is soooooo much nicer then the RS232 interface but doesn't give you any options for changing the IP address on the unit and no troubleshooting but otherwise it is far superior to it. Customers love it because they can finally use the GUI and change names themselves without straining their brain due to the double digit dialing per letter.
