I've got a client that picked up a 3501-01 in a liquidation sale. The system was supposively working before hand (Looks like original install date was June 2008 with a database backup to CD done in June 2012).

When I power on the system I get nothing thru the terminal and a 3015-71 phone gives me a display of "LKD-30D V0.6J SCOUNT-DX V1.1 NO SYNC".

Voltage on the battery reads 3.5v.

I've set switch 8 on SW5 to ON. I changed SW4 to OFF.

I removed every expansion card.

Still no change to be able to do any programming.

Is this a fried MBU or is there something else I can try?

If the MBU is fried, is their a market for the expansion cards and phones? I've rather get a new VoIP system than replace the MBU. Got a boat load of phones that they will never need.

Expansion cards are CIDU for the built-in LCOB, PMU, SLIB2, two DTIBs, one LCOB with CIDU, Flash Based Voice Mail card, and MODU.

Thanks,
Westley

Power off, move switch 8 to off, power on, wait a minute or two, move switch 8 to on. This will default the database. If it then works, replace the battery. If it doesn't, you may have toast.

Good news, I am in. Bad news, still can't connect using serial ports. I'm using hyperterminal, 9600, 8N1.

Am I missing something else?

Thanks,
Westley

Serial uses a slightly-non-standard cable. I made one years ago and carry it in my laptop bag. Almost that is the trouble. Check docs for details. Really, serial doesn't get you that much - backup/restore and diagnostics. For a small system, configuring with a phone is often faster than serial. If you just don't have the right cable, use analog station port and dial up the modem. Not pretty, but it works.
