I set up ARCserve 2000 on a Win2K box running Exchange 2000 with the Exchange backup agent. I went through CAs documentation for setting up the agent and creating the user account to back up the server.

However, every time I run a job I get the 8604 Error. DBNAME=dbaexchis, EC=Back-up Agent Error (331) Insufficient privilege. Please check user privileges. I don't understand why, because I followed CAs documentation to the letter. Does anyone know how to fix?

Thanks!

While submitting the backup job in the security and agent information give the security for the Exchange Information store backup session as Domain name\username and password and submit.

The majority of the steps of how to set up the exchange agent is for one thing: Brick level backups. The only thing needed for database level backups is to run the install of the agent. If the user configuration screen fails, one can still backup database level and protect the server. I mention this since the error you are receiving is about the database level backup. Currently, there is only one place to enter the security for a database level backup. That is at the machine name (or My Computer). The account being entered at this point needs to have sufficient privlidges to backup Exchange. One can use the same account that the Exchange System Attendant service is using due to the fact that this is normally the account that installed Exchange.
