Hi,

Anyone know of an intercom feature with any PBX series phones - SS 4025?

A user is wondering if she can call her boss without dialing a secondary number - being able to beep in on the speaker phone and announce a meeting or another visitor while her boss is busy working away from the phone at a table in his office.

Make sense?

Please let me know if you need more details.
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like Direct Paging to me.

Direct Page allows you to page another telephone over its built-in speaker, even if the telephone is in use. Direct Page makes the prime line of the paged telephone busy. A tone is heard at both the paging telephone and the paged telephone before the Direct Page is established.

You can page another telephone when the paged telephone has placed the prime line on hard hold.

If Handsfree Answerback is enabled for the paged telephone, a handsfree call can be automatically established when a Direct Page is received. After Handsfree Answerback has been enabled, the user can turn the feature on and off by pressing the Microphone or Mute key on the telephone. When Handsfree Answerback is enabled and turned on, the Microphone or Mute LED is on while the telephone is idle.

Alternatively

Direct Voice Call - Note: I've been unable to confirm this option is available to 4025 sets.
Description
The Direct Voice Call feature allows a caller to establish a two-way handsfree call at the called party set whether or not Handsfree Answerback or Auto-Answer is enabled. One second of paging tone announces the call, which is presented either at the current volume level of the receiving telephone or at maximum volume if configured as such in the telephone's Class of Service. At the end of a maximum volume call, the telephone reverts to its previous volume setting.

Hi KwbMitel,

Cool - Direct Paging is what she wants.

I'm not sure how to implement - I'll look into the help and forms.

I assume I could setup a key assign or speed dial of sorts?

Any clues on where to start?

Thanks,

-SP

Thanks - I found the directions in help.

I'll try to configure and if I have issues - may post back!

Kudos.

Hi Again,

I have direct paging configured thru a key assign on my phone and it works fine when paging another phone.

However, the other receiving phone needs to have the microphone button pressed in order to talk to me.

Is there a way to setup - like conferencing calls - the ability to use the speaker without the microphone button?

Make sense?
Thanks for any input.

From my earlier post:

Hi kwbMitel,

Thanks for the quick response - I know you tried to tell me to use Direct Voice call - but I could only find directions for Direct Paging - and that works.

But - I can't find any info for Direct Voice call - how to setup in the 3300?

Can you help?
Much appreciated.

-SP

Direct Voice Call was introduced at SW Version 9.0 UR1.

You have not provided your SW version so I must assume it is an ealier version.

So:
Either Upgrade or set your microphones to active when the phone is idle.

Hi kwbMitel,

I am unsure of the SW Version - how do I find out?

Used to be config all on the SX-2000 I thought...?

Thx.

Hi,

Per the help -> 7.1 UR2 -= could that be right?

-SP

OK - I found it under about system Administration:
7.1.5.13

So it looks like I can't use it until we upgrade to a later version - wow, we are far behind...

Thx again.

Hi,

One last note, is there another way to accomplish paging via speaker phone - right now w/ version 7.1.5.13 - without an upgrade?

Instead of using Direct page or Direct Voice call?

Any comments are appreciated.

-SP

2 way calls can be accomplished via direct page on 7.1

COS option - Handsfree Answerback must be enabled on the called extension.

The called extension must activate the Microphone either before or after the call is initiated.

To initiate mic before call, press MIC and it will light up.

Hi again,

Sorry to be a pain.

So - of course, the use has a problem with having her boss press the mic button before the call or possibly leaving it on all the time. <smile>

You mentioned two ways - I assume that when you said:

"COS option - Handsfree Answerback must be enabled on the called extension."

This process would alleviate the need to "use" the mic button?
Did I understand correctly?

And - one more question - how do we increase/decrease the volume with the direct paging - seems that the regular volume keys do not affect?

Thanks again for all the help.

-SP

Without HF answerback you cannot establish a 2 way call over the speakerphone (disables/enables mic option)

The Mic must be enabled prior to the call if you want to enable Automatic HF Answerback.

no other options.

Sorry, with respect to the speaker, adjust the volume while the page is engaged.
