If I access a 3300's RTC IP address via telnet (versus browser) I get a "Welcome to the SX2000 [host name}" prompt. What's this used for? Thanks -

The are some maintenance functions that are only available via the Telnet Access.

Use only under direction by Mitel TAC unless you're willing to live with the consequences.

(Database corruption likeliest scenario)

OpsMan still uses that interface for the Maintenance Task Scheduler as well. Also, since it's plain telnet, if you don't change the passwords, it's a gaping security hole.

I attempted to login w/same username and p/w as the browser interface - no go. I login with *defaults* and it is the exact same forms-based interface as the 2K. What is the difference and where would a potential for db corruption occur (use by port 80 & port 23 at the same time? The telnet session is MUCH quicker that the browser interface...

The risk with using ESM and Telnet to make DB changes is #1, Telnet doesn't allow you to access all of the forms, and #2, it's 2 seperate interfaces to the same DB. So if you have one user updating a form via Telnet, and another user poking around in the same form via ESM, voila, you get DB corruption.

You can also access 3300 via port 2002 ssh (with putty for example) In that case you'll use your system/password login.

BUt you won't access forms, it is in fact a console screen, same as you have via console cable...

BYE

Now, it's about French users too !!!

looks like port 2002 is not ssh. I couldn't use putty. Do you have settings for it? I use TelnetMagic. Seems it's telnet over SSL.

Slapin,

Use the Secure Telnet program provided by Mitel with the SX200 and you can connect on port 2002.
