Hi,

We need help w/ a SS4025 phone that when the hookset is picked up there is no a dial tone or light lit.

Until the user presses the primary number "key assign" button for his extension - there is no dial tone.

Make sense?
Thanks for any help.

I suspect that Headset is enabled.

Maintenance Command: Loc Fea Ext XXXX

Yes - it was enabled on one of the key assign's and I "thought" I removed it.

However, when I run your command - yes, under "active features:
Headset is listed!

How do I remove?

Thx!

The headset can be turned off by:

- Toggling a key assignment
- Under superkey
- Feature access code

Love the easy ones.

Thanks for the star.

nytalkin - Agreed. I do spend an inordinate amount of time on this site. I consider it training for my regular tech support role.

That being said, I sometimes nail a particularily difficult one that entailed a significant amount of effort, time, and expertise without so much as a thank you from the original poster. I've even seen someone else get a star for just saying my answer was the correct one.(Where I didn't get the star, I might add)

I think it all evens out in the end.

Hi KwbMitel,

Yikes - I thought this was easy too - maybe I missed something here...

Ok - now I am confused - we removed a headset key that was assigned in a key assign in the system.

Then, checked for keys assigned on the phone under superkey - non are listed but the phone still does not light up or have dial tone when the handset is picked up from/off the hook?

The loc fea ext <ext> still lists the headset as an "Active Feature".

Where could that be hiding?

Thanks again for any help.

Simplest just to use the FAC for Headset Disable.

Or

Under Superkey just say no until headset appears then yes then turn off

or

reprogram headset key, toggle until on, then off again.

Hi KwbMitel,

Thanks for answering again.

I think I should have told you we are using a wireless headset that has a lifter to lift the handset and plugs into the back of the phone where the handset jack usually connects.

Although I see no reason why that would make a difference?
Seems the wireless auot-handset lifter that is attached to the phone is just an automatic version of a hand lifting it. <smile>

Make sense?
Thanks again.

Hi again -

Looks like the FAC worked - we used ##8 and that cleared the headset and we're able to get a dial tone on the primary key now.

Thanks!

The type of headset you are using does not require the headset mode to be enabled to function. In fact it would prevent the headset from functioning as you have undoubtably noticed.

This leads to a new thought as to what might be causing your problem. Make sure NOTHING is plugged into the headset jack on the bottom of the phone. That jack is for non-amplified direct corded headsets only.

Ok - got it.
Yep - I realized that we don't use the bottom jack.

The user had an older phone SS420 and had an old plantronics "wired" headset and I had to make some changes.

Thx.
