My experience with EHDU and Analog trunks says it does not work.

That experience is quite dated as you might imagine

Low and behold, I have a trouble ticket today to resolve an issue where it is not working.

Well Duh, my mind says but I thought I would survey you guys/gals for your experience.

i dont think that it wont work at all
i think the issue is that it will involve 2 trunks connecting together that may depending upon the carrier not release properly

We no longer have any systems with analog trunks , isdn has also all but dissappeared.

the issue from memory was teh lack of any intelligent signalling
- i remeber the same thing with trunk trunk lockups on NEC systems , carriers here had a different kind of trunk that was supposed to help with the release ( some sort of timer)
- never really worked and we were still releasing locked up trunks whenever trunk trunk transfers were allowed

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Thanks Billz66

I finally found something in the helpfiles

Helpfiles said:
External hot desk users can be reached through all trunk types including SIP trunks. However, the use of loop start and ground start trunks is discouraged because they do not provide answer supervision. The preferred trunk types for EHDU applications are PRI and T1/D4.

My Interpretation, even if everything else goes according to plan, the Mitel has no way of knowing the call was answered on analog trunks and the call processing will continue until voicemail picks up and the outside call will drop as unanswered.

There has always been a loop start to loop start connect issue unless the carrier provides a current disconnect i.e CPC. Should work even without in your setting
