A couple of months ago, our 3300 LX ICP froze up during business hours, and we had to restart it.

It took over 3 hours for all of the phones to download code and be available for use. Thankfully, it happened at the end of the day. Normal?

We have over 250 phones (5235's and 5201's) and just over 400 IP Devices configured in the 3300 LX. Our LX is capable of 700 IP Devices.

Tonight, I noticed the 7.1 UR2 document that came out last month. The document states that the 3300 ONLY supports 300 maximum simultaneous TFTP connections.

To get around the 300 connection limitation, the document suggests using Load IPDevice for the 1st 300 devices, and then use Load IPDevice for the rest of the devices.

That's it. No other suggestions.

What have you guys done to reduce the time for the phones to come back up and be available?

Thanks

Ron

you could easily put the files for the phone on an "external" tftp server. this will take the load of the controller.

the challenge though is manually updating these files everytime a system upgrade is done. forgetting to do this could be problamatic for obvious reasons.

I turn off PoE ports when need to restart the system. And thinking about external tftp (let's say TW server already has it)

External TFTP, Definitely.

Consistancy... Is only a virtue when you're not a total screwup.

If the code version on the phone is the same as the ICP, the phone shouldn't have to download code. Does this make sense? Maybe, you guys can make a feature request with Mitel.

Also, is there a way to prioritize IP Devices during the boot-up process? By range of IP Device ID. By subnet.

Thanks for your earlier feedback.
