What is the best way to upgrade the Firmware on a 3300 Switch and do the cables need to be unplugged when doing the upgrade?

Thanks

Chris

If you've setup a TCPIP Address for Management on the Switch, you can use any standard TFTP Server to push the Firmware to the Switches.

If not, you will have to carry around a laptop (or any computer) and connect to each switch through the Console Port and complete the update that way!

Good Luck!

why would it be necessary to upgrade firmware to the switch?
and do I need to be connected vis the console prot to do this?

Try 3com network supervisor. It has a time limited add on which you can use to scan the network and find any firmware out of date. You can then push the firmware to all the switches over the network
