An unauthorized user has the password for the Administrator mailbox. This user was asked to change a greeting on an extension, but managed instead to delete all voice mail boxes. When I went to create new mail boxes again, I was limited to only two digits for Mailbox Number. I cannot find the cause. Anyone know why this is?

when you select new installation via admin mailbox then it asks you how many digits the mailboxes should be.

@tundranugget - if the user had the managers password rather than admin they would not have been able to delete the vmail. But still would have been able to edit the mailboxes.

Give your user the Manager passcode only, that way they will not be able to delete the whole voicemail system. The prompt will still play something along the lines of "to delete the whole system and start a new installation" but as long as they have logged in with the manager pin code and not the administrator or technician the system will not respond. They can still record rads etc with the Manager code.

Yeah, the user should never have had the password and was not authorized to use it. Someone pressured her into doing them a favor instead of following protocol. After this, I am sure management will agree with us about who can have which passwords.

On a similar topic, is there a way to back up the voice mailbox structure? I ended up rebuilding all the mailboxes manually and finished at midnight last night. Now, all the users have to recreate their names, greetings and passcodes.

At least all the unheard and saved messages were still accessible.

Is there a way to back up the messages as well as the structure?

Thanks

The quickest way round this I have found is to do as you have done and reset the voicemail up with the correct digits. Then export the user and device form and while in excel tick the box for embedded voicemail then reimport the form.
This will then create a mailbox for all users. All they will need to do is run through the wizard and all their messages will still be there.

There are two ways to back up, First is a full system backup including voicemail, and second is to do a backup via ftp, Instructions for this are on MOL

The Names and greetings would still have been there but I know of no way to turn off the tutorial.

If the tutorial could be turned off, everything would be as it was.
