3300 member of a 5 system cluster. old system at this site had analog page port connected to audio for the Valcom self-amplified speakers. Lead tech of the site wants ability to page to all sites, so they deployed a 5485 IP paging unit. Dial the access number to the unit it sends the ring tone across the speakers...what's missing?

"Dial the access number to the unit it sends the ring tone across the speakers"

Does this mean you dial the extension of the 5485 or the Direct Page Feature Access Code and then the extension?

They dial 2100 and you hear it ringing thru the speakers

There you have it, they should be doing a direct page

You use the direct paging feature code to allow a voice page

FAC + 2100

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

I think what they are trying to achieve is to allow the IP Paging unit replace the page PLID so the bosses can page from another system on the cluster...Node A dials 2100 on Node D and is able to page across external speakers...crazy idea, but that is what they are shooting for...I'm just the monkey hanging out in one of the back-water systems... :)

Clarify a few details please:

At each site (1-5), have the loudspeakers been connected to individual 5485 IP Paging units? Meaning that the analog output from the physical chassis is no longer part of the equation?
If yes: how many digits are your extensions (phones, VM ports, groups (including paging), 5485s)?
If all the same length: from Node A have you tried to Direct Page FAC + Node D 5485 DN?

You can page across the cluster, assuming that the number of digits assigned to the far node 5485 will have a match in ARS on the local node.

I would use some speed calls to do what you want. This is how I usually set this up. 4 digit such that first 2 are common, third is site and 4th zone (0) for all. Speed call then dials the direct page feature and required DN
