Anyone know if you have 2-4 processors if you can exceed the 4gig RAM limit? What I'm wondering is, does the limit apply per processor. We're looking to setup some VMWare on a server with 4 processors and 4 gig of RAM. We're wondering if it would make sense to toss in 8 gig of RAM...

Thanks!

What VMWare are you running? If its the freeware VMWare server for windows, then you are limited to the ram the host OS supports(eg. 2003 standard server 4gig, 2003 enterprise server 64gig(i think)). If your running VMWare ESX server then it depends on the ESX version(eg. ESX starter is 4gig, ESX enterprise is 64gig(i think)). So you see it really depends on the setup you have, you didnt really elaborate.

I just purchased ESX standard and was informed that it does not have a memory limit either.
