I have been asked to help out a friend with a Mitel 3100 system. Followed the tech docs on how to set up a voicemail box for a ring group and every thing seemed to work OK.

The problem they have is that when a call goes through to voicemail, the voicemail holds the line open and will not release it, even though the BT line has released. I have not seen many 3100 system as I mainly work on 3300's. If any one could shed some light on what may be happening and how to resolve - I would be grateful.

Sorry I can't help you with the problem. However, if it were for a true friend I think I would strongly encourage them to look at the trade-in/trade-up plan and replace that box with a 200 CX. (Order P/N 52001810)

The 3100 was discontinued from manufacture several years ago and was quite problem-prone. One description of it I heard thich I thought was apt was "a ticking bomb".

All 3 of our customers with 3100's at the time eventually took advantage of the deal. We even let the hardware go at our cost just as customer goodwill because the 3100 had so many issues. (It was giving us a bad name so we were as anxious as the customer to be rid of them)
