1) We would like to modify the XMLDirectory.asp file. Instead of saying "Corporate Directory" we would like it to say something else. What are the ramifications of doing so?

2) We have two call managers in our cluster. The phones get there DHCP info from our Windows Servers. I have noticed that only 1 TFTP server is listed as an option. I would like to add our second Call Manager server as another TFTP server, ok to do so?

3) In the global users section for a User. There is an extension mobility section where you can enter the IP address or DNS name of the computer for which ext mobility will be used. What is the benefit of doing so. I'm running it with no problems and i don't have mine listed?

1. You can change the name if you like. No issues there, just be aware that you need to back up your change so you can restore it after an upgrade. The upgrade restores all the files to default.

2. You can add a second TFTP server (subscriber). TFTP does not duplicate from publisher to subscriber so each time you add or modify a file on one you will manually have to do it on the other (MOH files, phone loads, .xml or .asp files etc).

Is there a reason you need an addtl TFTP server?

3. Since it is working you should be OK. Perhaps another member has some more to add to this.

Well the only reason i would want to add a second TFTP server is incase the Primary goes down.

If your primary goes down it probably means your publisher is down so making any configuration changes would be impossible. So your secondary TFTP is pretty much worthless at that point. Just another thing to maintain.

That said however, you can make your sub a TFTP server also.

Sorry when i said Primary i really ment Publisher.

I was just thinking that if the Publisher did go down for whatever reason and a phone was unplugged and plugged back they wouldn't be able to contact the TFTP server until the Publisher/TFTP server came back up.

But i guess there is no replication going on between the Pub/TFTP-1 and Sub/TFTP-2 so the maintance on it would be high.

Once the phone boots up it does not need the TFTP server to reboot unless you make changes. So if you lose your pub and unplug a phone it will boot up with its last known config.

Cool.

TAC confirmed on the modifing the XMLDirectory just its not supported by them.

Thanks for your help WhyKap

yeah all they are saying is they are not going to do it for you or help you out when you break it if you do not do it correctly. It does work however.
