This might be a little long, sorry. I just built my own PC which is up and running fine. I wanted to use my older pc in my wifes pentium 1. I took out all the drives and the cd rom and installed im my old PC which is a pentium II 450mhz with 384mg of ram. In my wifes older PC she had 3 hard drives the C: was the master the second was configured as a dual master and the third as a slave. I connected the primary drive and the secondary (dual master) to the primary ide connector. The cdrom and the third drive were then connected to the secondary ide connector. Problem is when I try to boot up I get a message error in drive a: the floppy. I can get into the set up ane it does recognize the 0 drive but not the other two. It will not boot to the one drive it recognizes. The configuration I use was the same setup in the older PC
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Floppy is a separate issue. Enable seek on POST and see if it seeks.

Drives being automatically detected? Does the BIOS have a setting in CMOS for detecting IDE drives?

You may want to start with 1 drive, then add 1 at a time as you get them running.
