3.6 Cumulative Patch 3 hangs

I am trying to update a BCM 3.6 v2.2.2c with the cumulative patch 3. Everytime I try to install the patch it hangs at 15% done "Validating update files" - it never gets past this step. Anyone ever experienced this before. Am I doing something wrong here?

Only had that happen once, had to reimage the hard drive and then it worked.

I was trying to apply the Cumulative patch, but what I believe I need is the core patch.
I don't have access to the Core Patch for the 3.6 because I am not a Nortel vendor. I am a technical user - is there anyway to get this patch without going through a vendor?
