Hi, We have a 3.5 BCM400. Some of our IP phones(i2002) are having trouble. When people call us, they can't hear us, but we can hear them. Somehow if the phone gets fixed, the problem goes to another IP phone. It seems like the problem gets transferred to another phone.

Anyone else have any problems like this? Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I was told to upgrade to 3.7, I'm trying to get the upgrade now. Any other solutions will be great.

Thanks,
George

Check the Nortel website for any patches that might resolve
any VoIP issues.

There are only 2 seasons in Canada, Golf and Snowmobile season.

we have about 20-25 ip phones. we have more than enough licenses. i will take a look at the patches. thanks

Might want to allocate some more media gateways - system defaults to 4 by default. Sometimes if there's a lot of IP traffic there is a delay in the system activating more media gateways which can cause the issues you're describing. Try bumping it up to 12 or so.

how do you add more media gateways? im looking at SIP trunks, is that what you are talking about? thanks

Log into Unified Manager, Resources, Media Services Card, MSC Configuration, Custom 1. Change your minimum media gateways from 4 to a higher number (10 or 12 should be safe). Go back to Configurations, set Active Configuration to Custom 1, reboot when prompted.

This has worked for me in the past.

i will try it tonight, after everyone is gone. i'll let u know how it went....thanks biv343
