3.23.52 vs 4.0.14

My question about these two version is:

I need to update the 3.23 to 4.0, but do not want to add all the permissions on the new version
Can I copy only the binairies? or do is the MySql Database ( which has all permissions ) different in these two version ??????

If you upgrade, you must switch to the new permissions system.

The new version should come with a script that will update your mysql database tables to the new format.

Damn....

The only scripts that are supplied are unix shell scripts and perl....
I run MySQL on windows 2000 server, and haven't got perl running.. and can't run any of those scripts..

It may not be a perl or other script. It's likely going to be a set of SQL queries.

The distribution you're trying to install should have instructions about upgrading the permissions system.
