Does anyone have any idea on how to make this thing work the first time?
If not,can you re-run the Config tool without a complete re-load?
We're on our 4th try and get bizarre errors that shut us down each time, and have to re-load all 3 discs on the MAS every time.
Is this Avaya's biggest blunder yet?
The last error we got was "trying to add everyone" when configuring the MAS-the last step!
HELP!!!

What are you using for the message store? and how many MAS's on the system. Does it do it on every mas ?

This sounds like you are on a exchange backend. Are you sure all of the prep work in AD is done?

Standard set-up,MSS is up and running and trying to configure the first MAS.
The real question is,how do you re-launch if a config fails?
A complete re-load every time?
Absolutely ridiculous!!!!!!

I have never seen one fail so i am not sure if you can restart it. What happens when you try to reload the dct file with out a reload?

There seems to be no way-
The icon disappers from the desktop forever and no method of re-launching will actually send a config.
The executable exists on the hard drive and the application cd,but can't be "launched" from there.Only good for creating a config and then launching from the MAS desktop.
If there is a way-it's not in the documentation.
And the errors you receive are very vague.
Avaya really screwed us on this one.
Rel 3.72 will address this no doubt.
What a debacle!

I am pertty sure you can copy the file from the cd and then click it and reboot and it will go into the set phase but i can't find where i read it at.

You can restart the MM installation wizard, but it continues from the last point where you cancel the operation, it doesn't start over. I have had problems at times when it gets to the "trying to add everyone", but it has always been a problem with the physical LAN connection between the MAS and MSS. As long as I can ping between the MAS and MSS, I haven't had any problems.

Assuming - MSS is properly configured and the DNS entried of the both the server are already there, follow the steps..

Install MAS with 3 CDs
Activate the windows 2003
Run the DCT tool from the icon on the desktop
It will reboot and will come up with a window to configure.
Insert all the configuration information in it.
After configuring sat the configuration file. This process will take atleast 1 hr.
Install the latest service pack and patch available on support.avaya.com website.
You also need to configure the Avaya PBX for the IP/qsig trunk from MAS to CLAN.

Feel free to ask.

Well thanks everyone-
The answer is,you're fucked.
I'd rather have to manually enter everything than be at the mercy of this horrifying tool that fails for a different reason every time.
All I'm doing here is migrating a 3.0 config from 1 machine to another.
2 days in,and I'm not even close.
This is like being trapped in hell.
Avaya is the worst company ever.
Sadam Hussein Inc. is a more compassionate figurehead.
I hope all the Avaya fat cats die a horrible death.

Is the Machine that you are moving it from still hooked to the network? If it is that may be the problem.

No,these 2 are not on the same network, the new unit is just benched.
Thanks-
