I recently picked up 2 6400R from a bankruptcy sale and have been having some problems configuring them. I don't have the SmartStart CD, but have all the Floppys to do the setup manually. I did the erase process, then the System Config and everything appears fine. But once I run the Array Config it doesn't see the logical drives.
I would assume this to be faulty hardware, but the drives check out fine and this is happening on BOTH machines. The firmware is up to date, but is there some step I'm missing here? I'm not sure if this is the SCSI adapter failing or the array controller.
Any help would be appreciated.
p.s. I've noticed a lot of posts about this too

Which Smart Array controller do you have in the system? It is possible that the version you are using of ACU does not support the controller you have. Also which version of the disks and ACU do you have?

thanks for your reply. I have the Smart-2 3200 Array Controller. And I have used both the A and B type ACU, but not sure how to check if I'm using the right one. I haven't seen any documentation on how to determine this. How can I find this out?

When you say it doesn't see the logical drives, have you actually created one? Does the ACU see the physical drives to allow you to create a logical drive?

If you have the latest disks for the System Configuration Utility ( you should be ok. As The Lad mentioned, check to see if you have any physical disks attached. If not then check that the cable from the drive cage is in fact being plugged into the SA3200 port and not into the system board which would mean that it is using the SCSI controller.
