2nd SubReport Shows All Records

Hi all,
I have a report with two sub-reports. The first subreport works fine and restricts based on the child/master property. The second sub-report however isn't not working correctly and displays all records. The first one that is working has used field A and field B to link. The second sub-report, which is at the higher level, just uses field A. Since field A is the primary highest level and they both use it you would think it wouldn't be an issue. Any ideas?

I re-cast the field and it started to work. Not sure why, but it's working.
