I want to install a second hard drive on my system for Digi 001 (audio). It will be ultra ata 100. If a drive specs out @ 9.5 seek time will I get that time if the drive is the sencond device in an IDE chain? Basically does the second device suffer a performance hit?

Thanks

Yes it will. not to noticable, but the chain will run at the slowest speed of the device on the chain.

Been a few posts recently that say it won't cause a performance hit - as long as both disks at least ATA33, they will both run at their proper speeds. I've checked this out on my system (ATA66 & 100 disks sharing a comnnection) and its certainly true there.
