Have SCO 5.0.6, and am running Facetterm and Facetwin on a test box. I started 11 different Facetwin logins, each login has 5 windows via Facetterm, I am up to ttyp98 when I ps -fu [login name], and when I run brand -u, the output is 1. The 1 is because I started up another terminal emulator on another computer and logged in as root. So the question is, do I only need a few SCO licenses? It seems to me that facetterm is using 1 login, and then creating multiple user shells as need for each new log in. Anyone had experience with this configuration? I also upped the number of Pseudo tty's in netconfig to 256.

Did you start all these on the console? Console logins are treated much differently than network/serial logins.. Although the implementation has varied from time to time with glitches here and there, the intent has been to treat the console as one user no matter how many alt-screens are opened.

No, I'm running all of this via remote Windows terminals, 1 is running a Facetwin Term Emulator, and another using Anita terminal emulator.

Well, I'd say morally you need more licenses but if brand -u shows that they are not consumed, then obviously you aren't going to have an actual licensing issue.

But the different screens WITHIN Facetterm shouldn't be counted againsts (and obviously are not) because, just as on the console, it's not really 5 users on each login. Tony Lawrence
