I want to replace my current Exchange2K server with a newer machine. I am not in a time crunch I am just trying to rearrange server roles to the best possible hardware. If I install this new server with W2K, AD, Exchange2K and give it a lower priority MX record will it correctly pick up all the user accounts and mailbox info?
This new server will have a different name and I was thinking I could slowly reconfig clients to use the new server while the old server was still in operation.
My next thought was after a month or so to change the priority of the MX records to give the new server the higher priority. Then after another month or so to remove the original server altogether.
Will this work?
